About Us

Wazi Vision is a female-founded, female-led business based in Kampala, Uganda that has developed a scalable means of upcycling “waste” – such as plastic – into sustainable, high quality eye wear that is 80% more affordable than market alternatives.

Today, over 1 billion people have a preventable or addressable visual impairment. Of these, 123.7 Million have an unaddressed refractive error; and, 80% of those with poor vision live in low- or middle-income countries. Yet, the cost of corrective eye wear and eye testing services remains high and barely affordable for the majority of people in low and middle income countries of Africa.

The global economy loses $227 billion every year from lost productivity among adults who need eyeglasses. Providing affordable access to reading glasses alone would boost productivity by up to 34%. Illiteracy costs the global economy $1.19 trillion each year.

Wazi Vision therefore focuses on providing an alternative to existing eye care solutions – making eye care more affordable to those who can least afford it.

We provide customers with an affordable alternative to expensive eye care. We manufacture high quality, stylish and durable eye wear from recycled materials.
