Adele Dejak

Adèle is the founder and creative mind behind the African-inspired handmade fashion jewelry brand – Adèle Dejak. Aptly named after her. Her creations are handmade pieces of mastery made from repurposed materials such recycled brass and aluminium. Her jellewery has been worn by celebrities such as Beyoncé, who hand selected the designer and her brand to be featured on her website as part of the singer’s campaign to promote black-owned businesses in Summer 2020.

But before arriving to notoriety, Dejak cut her teeth in the world of typographic design in England and Italy before moving to Nairobi, Kenya in 2005. Once there, she turned her attention to accessories design and found herself intrigued by the natural beauty of horn and begun to experiment with techniques of creating unique shapes and fashioned pieces.

Her flair was noticed and spurred on by an admirer of one of her creations who encouraged Adèle to set up shop creating unique shapes to wear. Through her creations, Dejak’s merges her Nigerian roots with European influences. She sees jewellery as a never-ending quest to create that essential artefact that allows you to express your own style. Through her jewellery she hopes to inspire and in her own words: “Show the world that beautiful things can be made in Africa. That it’s not just about disease and famine.”
